Talbot 14/45, 60 Georges Roesch designed the 14/45 six cylinder engine for 1926. This engine was of 1665cc with an overhead valve system and rated at 45bhp. Launched at the 1926 Olympia Show the 1665cc Talbot offered the performance of the 3127cc Rolls-Royce Twenty but was sold at a quarter the price of the Double R. With sales of 11,851 the 14/45 established Talbot, and the model continued in production until 1932 when it was renamed 'Talbot 65', and produced until 1935. From 1930 the engine was developed into a 2276cc 6-cylinder engine for the 1930 Talbot 70 and later Talbot 75, both named after their top speed, the '75' moniker arising from an underestimate of the '70' top speed! |
