Talbot 70, 75 Georges Roesch designed the 14/45 six cylinder engine for 1926. This engine was of 1,665cc with an overhead valve system and rated at 45bhp. The 14/45 model continued in production until 1932 when it was renamed 'Talbot 65', and produced until 1935. From 1930 the engine was developed into a 2,276cc 6-cylinder engine for the 1930 Talbot 70 and later Talbot 75, both named after their top speed, the '75' moniker arising from an underestimate of the '70' top speed! For the 1930 Brooklands Double Twelve race Roesch modified the cylinder head to give a higher compression ratio and an output raised to 93bhp for the Talbot 90. 2,757 Talbot 75s were produced. The Talbot 75 was in production until 1935 by which time Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq had failed and the Rootes brothers moved in to create Sunbeams and Sunbeam-Talbots. |
