Vanden Plas Cars Guillaume van den Plas established Carrosserie Van den Plas in Belgium in 1898 and set up an English branch in 1913. In 1946 Vanden Plas failed to secure a contract with Rolls-Royce and were gathered up by Leonard Lord to help him create a luxurious Austin; the A125 Sheerline. The 'Vanden-Plas' badge was first applied to a version of the Austin A105 Westminster, and then appeared on badge-engineered versions of the Austin A99 and A110 Westminster, the Austin/Morris 1100, and was then given to the Austin Metro and Austin Allegro. Both Jaguar and Rover had 'Vanden-Plas' versions. |
