Pickups, Trucks, Utilities, Vans and other Goods Vehicles Almost as soon as the motor car had been launched for carrying people it was being developed for carrying goods and for public transport. The first goods vehicles were often just cars with front seating and an open platform or boxed container behind. Quite quickly longer, larger and more powerful models were specifically designed for carrying goods and the Motor Truck or Lorry was developed. Beneath these 'Kings of the Roads', manufacturers often found profit by taking car parts and building them into light goods vehicles, and some of these were later developed into 'People Carriers' or MPV and also in Camping Vehicles. This album concentrates on the lighter goods vehicles that are often closely connected to the cars of that manufacturer. |
