Crayford Engineering followed their Cortina TD convertible with one based on the Vauxhall Cavalier 2000 GLS. Crayford Engineering designed the conversion, removing the roof, strengthening the floorpan and adding a t-bar (like the Triumph Stag) to create an open top car which gained Type Approval. Magraw Engineering Ltd actually built the Centaur convertible at Bromley on behalf of Crayford Engineering, and Mumfords of Plymouth marketed the car. 118 Centaurs were built, mostly as Vauxhalls but a number of Opels were also built.
