Vauxhall PC Cresta and Viscount
Launched in 1965 the PC Cresta was available in 3 versions, the PCE Executive was called 'Viscount'. Styled like the Chevrolet Impala The PC series had the 'coke bottle' waistline which was also given to the FD Victor and the HB Viva. The 1966 Holden HR, and Opel Rekord (from which the Opel was derived) shared a similar styling and the Opel had been created in Detroit around the time that Chevrolets were being given 'coke bottle' waists. The engineering of the Cresta PC was similar to the outgoing model, and the 3294cc inline six did not change. Vauxhall did not apply the name 'Velox' to this model, and did not apply the name 'Cresta' to another model when this one was retired in 1972.

Vauxhall Cresta PCD 1972 front
Vauxhall Cresta PCD 1972. The PC was launched in 1965 with 'Coke bottle' styling and 3.3litre straight six engine. Styling was like a Chevrolet Impala. A modest restyle was given in 1970, and production ceased in 1972 taking the Cresta name with it.
Vauxhall Cresta PCS 1965 front
Vauxhall Cresta PCS 1965. The 'Velox' name had been dropped when the PC Cresta was launched so the cheapest models were called 'Cresta' but given their own 'PCS' designation. Single headlamps distinguished the base Crestas and not many were sold, although it is possible that exported cars were given single lamps for local regulations.
