Vauxhall Wyvern The first Vauxhall Wyvern, the LIX, was introduced in 1948. The name 'Wyvern' is that of a winged dragon creature which might be a mis-reading of the Vauxhall Griffin emblem. The Wyvern inherited the 1442cc 4-cylinder engine from the Prewar 12. David Jones restyled the Twelve body for the L-series at minimal cost, giving a new front and rear to make it resemble the Chevrolet Fleetline. In 1951 an all new body, inspired by the 1949 Chevrolet, was given to a new range of Vauxhalls called the E-series, the entry level one being the eIX Wyvern which sold until 1957 when it was replaced by the Vauxhall Victor FA> |
