Zaporozhets ZAZ-966, 968
Zaporizkyi Avtomobilnyi Zavod (ZAZ) produced the Zaporozhets from 1958 at its factory in the Ukraine. the name 'Zaporozhet' means 'Cossack from the Zaporizhia Oblast.' The second model was the ZAZ 966 which had an entirely new body looking like an NSU Prinz, this was introduced in 1966 and given a new 1,197cc V4 engine in 1968 for the 966B. The ZAZ 968 was introduced in 1971 with the same 1,197cc V4 engine and modest restyling, and a safer ZAZ 968A was produced in parallel from 1973 mainly for export. The ZAZ 968M was launched in 1979, and had the scoops on the rear wings replaced with simple mesh grilles. The 968M was produced until 1994 and a total of 3.4million Zaporozhets were manufactured.
